You know you're pretty darn pregnant if...

  1. you can't remember what your ankles used to look like. all you know is that you're pretty sure there were bones on either side

  2. it's exciting when you only have to get up once during the night to pee

  3. you don’t realize until the end of the day that your shirt looks like it has a footprint on it and that you have no idea how it got there

  4. sleep is no longer a restful solace, instead you wake up more achey than you were before

  5. you start using your belly as an appendage, namely to shut the microwave when your arms are full

  6. your husband is worried you might actually be overdosing on Tums

  7. And my personal favorite... people actually tell you that they can see your hips widening

We're Old

Numerical age apparently has nothing to do with how "old" you are. How do I know? Because after our date this weekend, Rob and I got home at 9:30 and were excited to watch a movie we rented, but before we could even get it in the machine, we both fell asleep! Talk about OLD fogies! But I was grateful for the sleep :)

p.s. I promise to post more pics soon, I swear.

So Much to Say

Ok, so in the months I haven't posted it sure hasn't been cause I have nothing to say. In fact, I've had a lot on my mind! I can't believe our BEAUTIFUL fall has come to an end. We had such great weather and for so long! It was only 2 weeks ago that we had daylight savings and snow started falling. Now instead of driving home after work and seeing the bright colorful leaves, it is already dark! But we have thoroughly enjoyed all that fall brought with it, including football games, Halloween, my birthday :) and a good excuse to drink hot chocolate (even though I still drink it all summer long).

Here are some pics

We were lucky enough to go spend a weekend in Bear Lake with friends, and this was my favorite patch of trees! Also, I'd been craving a LaBeau's shake all season, and we got there the last 10 minutes they were open before closing for the winter! I was so grateful! Nothing tastes better than a Bear Lake raspberry shake.

Homemade, from scratch, chicken pot pies! This was so fun to experiment and spend time in the kitchen with my mom.

For Halloween, we co-hosted a party with Rob's friends from school, and did a Murder Mystery party. The fun part for me was decorating and making these cute chocolates. Draculas and spiders :)

And one of the best parts of a fall is a good excuse to buy new boots!

Also, some exciting news that most of you already know about! We are having a girl!! I couldn't be happier!

And watch out, this is 23 weeks, and I have POPPED! Don't get confused that I happen to be wearing very similar outfits in the last two pictures...

Definition of Awesome

When you are sitting next to a large-in-statue African American man on Trax, and next thing you know you are waking up on his shoulder, wiping the drool from your face, and trying to make a joke about it, but he ignores you. Oops...

Ragnar Relay

So I've been meaning to write down the details of the race, and things have just been too busy! But it was my first time doing the Wasatch Back, and it was SO much fun!! I wish I had more pictures, but you will just have to use your imagination to fill in the holes. For those who aren't familiar with the race, it's a 188 mile relay from Logan to Park City, and you do it with a team of 12 people. We had an all women's team, and actually did pretty well, considering many of us were first timers! Six of us were in van 1, so we started right up in Logan at 1pm on a Friday. Here is a picture of Heather, who started us out. She was an awesome motivation for the rest of us! (Green tank top, black shorts with a stripe)

During each run, our van would go support each runner with water, supplements, a cool towel, etc. And then when they had about a mile left of their leg, we would head to the next exchange, where the next runner would get ready to switch. When our runner came in, they would give the slap bracelet to the next girl, and the running would keep going! My legs were not too bad, but because of our start time, our whole van had to run our first and last legs in the heat of the afternoon! That was the hard part. We were all piled in the good ol' Chaves van, which held up like a champ. (Except for some minor overheating going up Ragnar that required us to turn on the heat in 96 degree weather, but hey, we made it home without heatstroke.) Here's a picture of all the girls in van 1 (L to R: Kristi, Kaitlin, me, Jenica, Heather, Amy). The girls in van 2 were Megan, Carly, Lindsay, Kelsie, Shante, and Janie. (pictured later)

My cute husband wanted to come up and see one of my legs, so he came up in the middle of the night! What a cutie!! He loves me. We were up in Morgan, UT for my night run, and it started about 1:30am, and was 4.2 miles. Rob was so cute, he put on the required reflective vest, got the flag out, and would bring me water about every half a mile. I love him so much! After our van's night runs were finished, about 4am, we drove to North Summit high school and slept on the gym floor for a few hours. It was nice to get some real rest, even if only 2-3 hours. In the morning, we all tried to eat a good breakfast, and get ready for our last legs. Amy had a killer last leg, and that girl is a machine! She did a freaking hard 8-point somethin uphill run for her last one! And she never even slowed down. Seriously, she's my idol. When we all finished our own last leg, it was like a little personal victory. It felt so great to be done! After our van finished, we went and followed our van 2 runners, and supported them as well. It was so fun to finally get to see them a little bit, since we'd been separate the whole time. They had some killer last legs, and I have to give some serious props to Heather, who stepped it up when one of our girls was injured, and ran another 5 mile uphill leg! I think she almost did a total of a marathon. What a woman. And Lindsay, who did RAGNAR. Wow. That mountain is a beast. It climbs like 4.5 miles from 7200 feet to 9800 feet, and it is way intense. She rocked it. Also, another idol. Here is a picture of all of us at the finish line. (L to R: Carly, me, Kelsie, Amy, Heather, Lindsay, Megan, Jenica, Kaitlin, Kristi) I just realized two of our girls aren't in this picture. Shante and Janie, but they were also there! Not sure why they weren't in the pic. Anyway, I had such a good time with these ladies, and it was such a good experience! I am a total Ragnar convert. The following day and a half of dehydration, exhaustion, and malnutrition were not my husband's favorite, but I think he'd let me do it again, even so. Anyone looking for a fun challenge??

Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy

So, we had a crazy thing happen last night, and I wanted to illustrate it. We were on our way home from a large Sunday evening family gathering, and decided we should check RedBox for a movie, as we often do. We pull into the very small 7-11 right by our house, and parked in the spot directly in front of the RedBox. It had gotten a little chilly, so I told Rob I'd stay in the car and give him thumbs up or down for each one. He climbs out of the car and goes up to the RedBox. Right then, I heard a loud truck noise, and looked behind me, to see that a HUGE semi was pulling into this baby parking lot. I don't know if I knocked the E. brake loose in the process or what, but I realized that our car had started drifting towards this semi! We were on a slight incline, so with each millisecond, the car was picking up speed. I freaked out, and ripped my seatbelt off, and leaned over as far as I could, to put my hand on the brake pedal. (No thought at all about the E. brake mind you...) I glance up to see if we've stopped moving, and to my distress, we were still gliding towards the huge truck!!! I quickly realized my hand was in fact, on the clutch, not the brake pedal. And I scrambled to find the right one. Of course, hands are not made to push down brake pedals, so it was a long, deep push in for an arm, might I add!! We had finally stopped moving. I was so relieved in that moment that I had avoided hitting the truck, by INCHES, and I was sure Rob was rushing over to save the day. With my hand deep in the workings of the foot pedals, I popped my little head up to see where Rob was. Oh... he's deep in thought, still staring at the RedBox!! I was shocked he hadn't heard/noticed the commotion behind him. So with my other hand, I tried to reach up to honk the horn, while still holding pressure on the foot pedal! At the moment, it was probably the most awkward position I've ever been in in my life. I finally get a little "toot" out of the thing, and Rob turns around, with eyes the size of salamis. He rushes over, and luckily gets in and takes over the brake pushing for me. Oh man... that was a close one. Here's a picture :) I guess that's what we get for attempting to break the Sabbath. Thank goodness we didn't end up getting one! We'd have probably wrecked our car before we got home!

What Makes Me Inexplicably Happy

Do I need say more? Something about these little puffs of goodness warms my soul. Don't they say something about us reverting back to our childhood ways when we're under stress? I must be quite stressed then, with the way I fly through these bad boys. I held off at my last grocery store visit, thinking that I needed something healthier. Usually I enjoy a good bowl of Raisin Bran Crunch or Special K or Wheaties. But lately, it's all about the Golden Puffs. After two weeks of denial, I finally gave in today. And bought, not one, but two bags. Super sized. :)
