A Weekend of Firsts

So after years of feeling like an inept Utahn for never having snowboarded, I finally get to say I HAVE!! (For those of you who were there at the attempt, I know it's nothing to brag about, but no one else knows that, so I'm goin with it.)

And it really was pretty fun! Considering the last time I hit the slopes, on skis, as an eleven-year-old, I had a traumatic accident that got me taken down the hill on a sled, I'd say I've somewhat improved. I mastered the baby hill, called "Sweat Pea." (How cute is that?) And I was getting the hang of it on the bigger hills, as long as I had Rob to help me keep my balance. I'll include some pics, but they all look really lame, like I'm on completely flat ground and I'm proud of myself or something... But hey, after all, for me getting the bindings done was an accomplishment!Trying to look the part.

Eating our lunches at the lodge.

And the other first, was making banana bread! I've been nervous about the undertaking because everything I bake seems to not get done in the middle. But after being patient for the entire 60 minutes, it turned out BEAUTIFULLY! It's a definite repeat. See below.

Also, I have to include a first from last weekend--ICE FISHING! I've been so excited to go this winter and try it out, and it turned out to be such a fun adventure! We went to Strawberry with Dev and Jennie, and made a day of it. We all forgot sunscreen in the intense cold, and burned our faces off. Well, that's a little exaggerated. Except for poor little Robert. The boy had some serious blistering, peeling, and pain for a whole week! But we really did have so much fun, we would've done it again!Rob and I on the ice. Yes, he does have weird facial hair--he was trying to impress Devin. . .

Some people can't justify taking pictures of food, but man, this was a must! Just look at it!!!

Rob and sunburned face, Sarah and fat lip, Jennie and rosy cheeks, and healthy Devin.

  1. I just cried a little tear of happiness that you finally have a blog. Good girl. And seriously, we are the same person. The last time I hit the slopes was when I was eleven and the day ended with me being taken down the hill on a sled. What the?!?!

  3. What a darling blog! And, i will admit, i love looking at pictures of food! Great job with the bannana bread. Looks divine and is the other picture a pancake? I can't really tell, but I'd eat it anyway. Glad to see you're a boarder and a fisherwomen! Can't wait to go with you!

  4. Teri, that is too funny! I can't believe you had that happen too!! More than mere coincidence if you ask me... And what is this prego talk? I'm suddenly so confused, and definitely not pregnant!

Jen, haha, I was laughing about the pancake comment. It's salmon, on wontons and rice, topped with mango salsa. I should have explained better... definitely not syrup! Though that sounds good too!
