So I have a lot of catching up to do. And I'm not gonna be that person that apologizes for not writing, and for how long this next one is going to be. I'm not even sure who reads my blog anyway. But for the sake of my own attempt at journal keeping, this is just a WARNING that this is going to include alot.
Let me backtrack a bit...
TONY & LYNDSEY
Some of our bestest friends, the cute Skanchy family, officially left to dental school about a month ago now. They are already sorely missed! Over the last year, we have made a whole lot of awesome memories with them that we wouldn't trade for the world. Many Sunday dinners, game nights, tennis matches, trips to the driving range, etc. You name it, we probably did it together. Although it will be a LONG and grueling four years until we can be best buds again, I have no doubt it will happen. :)
KENNY CHESNEY
This was one awesome concert. And I am the last person I ever thought would say that. In the past, I haven't been the biggest Kenny fan, cause I think he has a weird obsession with the beach. I mean, I love the beach myself, but aren't cowboys supposed to love trucks, women in short skirts, and herding cattle? But I have to give Rob credit for converting me. He has some oldies that are definitely goodies. And it makes me like him even better that our tickets were FREE! That's right. It was my job that summer evening to be the scalper, since Rob had to work. But when I got there, I didn't see one person selling tickets. So I walked up to good ol' 104.3 "The Cowboy" and asked if they had any extra. One guy said no, then this cute older man, told me to come over to the side of the tent. He had tickets in hand, and said "How many do ya need?" Then he refused my money, and told me just to remember who gave them to me. No problem. BIG THANK YOU to 104.3!!! Oh, and I should mention, these were no nose-bleed seats, they were about the 7th row on the floor! I could smell Kenny's sweat. And I could definintely see it, he was drenched!
JENNIE & DEVIN
Oh, how we love these two! It's sad that we all keep getting older, gaining responsibility, and facing reality that life must go on, and change is inevitable. Devin was accepted into Scholl (sp?) College of Podiatry in Chicago, IL and they too left us not too long ago! Our favorites are droppin like flies! We are super excited for them. But can't help but have a few selfish feelings of wanting them to stay and play with us forever. Because Devin and Jennie's dating history closely paralleled ours, and we are close in age, we felt a particular kinship with this darling couple. We love you Dev and Jennie!
PUG SHOPPING
Just a short funny story... So I decided about a month ago that our FHE's would be much more exciting if they had activities included. So I brought out one of our wedding presents that was a little booklet of ideas for FHE for Newlyweds. It has some good ideas. One was called "Wife's Choice," where the girl gets to pick somewhere to go that will teach the hubby more about her. So my first thought was, let's go to a pet store!! I found a pet shop close to our house, but after calling in advance, I knew they didn't have any pugs. And to keep Rob interested in our FHE, I thought he needed to see a pug that night. So I looked on KSL, found a family living close by with a little 9 mo. old pug, and arranged to go see him right afterward. Of course, we had absolutely NO idea that the family was counting on us not only buying the dog, but taking him that very night! Apprently, two families (including lots of little kids) have grown very attached to this little dog. And the moment we knocked on the door, the mom called all her kids to come say goodbye to "Pug," because he could be leaving. Of course, that put all the kids in a panic, and suddenly all the neighborhood kids were swarming the dog, and we were left feeling obligated to act interested. Oops, bad idea. So we finally broke the news that "We just started looking, and we probably won't take him tonight..." and got out of there on a semi-awkward note. Haha, definitely a night to remember.
Okay, there is a whole lot more I could say. But this is good for now!
